Karisma Kapoor wasn’t the original choice for Shakti -- The Power.

It was Sridevi who was expected to make her comeback with this film. She backed out due to pregnancy, and turned producer. Under Sridevi Productions, Kajol was chosen to play Nandini. But she too could not essay the role.

Karisma stepped in.

Shakti -- The Power revolves around Karisma, but Sanjay Kapoor has many hopes invested in the film. His last two films Vinay Shukla's Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche and Sushen Bhatnagar's Soch, were both disasters at the box-office.
