Sholay beats Satyajit Ray's Pather Panchali at BFI
The British Film Institute (BFI) has been celebrating South Asian cinema with its ImagineAsia film festival, for the last few month. Various old classic movies, Satyajit Ray's movies including others like Lagaan, Zubeida were also to be screened. Interestingly it was Ramesh Sippy's blockbuster of 1975 Sholay took the first position in the poll for the best South Asian movie made in the last 70 years. Satyajit Ray's Pather Panchali was second.
