Nasir Husain deadNoted film producer-director Nasir Husain, who made memorable films like Yaadon Ki Baraat, Caravan, Teesri Manzil and Tumsa Nahin Dekha, succumbed to a heart attack in Mumbai on Tuesday. Family sources say Husain passed away on his way to Holy Family Hospital, Bandra, where he was to be admitted. Seventy-six-year-old Hussian was ailing for some time now. During his 45-year career, Husain produced and directed several films, including Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahi, Baharon Ke Sapne, Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon, Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai, Pyar Ka Mausam and Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai. He also produced the popular film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak directed by his son Mansoor Khan, where he introduced his nephew Aamir Khan as hero. Jo Jita Wohi Sikander also featured Aamir Khan. Aamir had also assisted Husain in some films. But the Lagaan star was allowed to assist only on the condition that he would not neglect his studies. Incidentally, Aamir, who is believed to be very close to his uncle, celebrates his birthday on March 14. Husain was recently conferred the Zee Lifetime Achievement Award. He is survived son Mansoor Khan and daughter Nuzhat. Nuzhat, is married to actor Raj Zutshi. PTI with inputs from Bharati Dubey in Mumbai
