Lagaan is Best Film

Actor-producer Aamir Khan's three-hour-40-minute long period drama, Lagaan won the Best Film at the Star TV Screen Awards for 2001 held at Mumbai's Andheri Sports Complex. The film also won Ashutosh Gowariker the Best Director Award.

Farhan Akhtar and Akshaye Khanna received a special jury award mention for the very contemporary film, Dil Chahta Hai
