Court notice for Lajja starsA local court in Kanpur has issued legal notice to Lajja director Rajkumar Santoshi for producing a film based on the Bhawanipur rape case which is still subjudice. The case pertains to the rape and murder of the mother of a boy who married a upper caste girl, against the wishes of her parents.
Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Ajay Devgun, Rekha, Manisha Koirala, Madhuri Dixit and Mahima Chaudhry have been asked to appear before the court on October 8. Swaroop, one of the alleged accused in the rape case, has said in his petition that the film is based on a case that is still pending in court. Nand Lal Jaiswal, counsel for Swaroop, said that since the case is under trial the depiction of certain scenes in the film amounted to contempt of court. PTI
