Hummdinger!

Sukanya Verma

Hit music has always been one of the high points of a Rajiv Rai film. Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat

Witness a few: I am in love (Yudh), Oye oye (Tridev), Saat samundar (Vishwatma), Tu cheez badi hai mast (Mohra), Mere khwaabon mein tu (Gupt).

The winning team of Rajiv Rai and Viju Shah look to hit the jackpot once again with Pyaar, Ishq Aur Mohabbat, starring Sunil Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani, Kirti Reddy and introducing model Arjun Rampal.

The album comprises seven songs and a theme track. Theme music is largely a Hollywood phenomenon. But it seems to be gaining ground in the Indian film industry, too. A R Rahman is one composer who has a mandatory theme track for most of his albums.

Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat Music director Viju Shah, for his part, doesn't disappoint.

Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan seem to have genuinely enjoyed singing the title track. Shaan appears to be the flavour of the season. After Raju Chacha and Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai, he croons Apni yaadon ko -- a great track with some catchy whistling. The lyrics, however, by veteran Anand Bakshi, leave a lot to be desired.

Listen to some neat orchestration and the melodious strains of Chand ho by Alka Yagnik and Sonu Nigam. And top it up with the catchy, foot-tapping Dono taraf by Kavita Subramanium, Kumar Sanu and Rakesh Pandit.

Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat But then again, if there is the insipid and lacklustre Jab tujhe maine, (Sadhana Sargam and Udit Narayan), there is also the soulfully rendered Tum lakh chupe ho by Hariharan and Janki.

The album wraps up with Kumar Sanu's woeful Main bewafa, a hummable number that grows on you.

Want to buy the album? Let's put it this way -- you wont regret it.
