Aamir's XI for a real-life cricket match

Bharati Dubey

The winners of the Britannia Contest will play a cricket match with the Lagaan Eleven on December 3, 2001.

Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, Lagaan (along with Anil Sharma's Gadar - Ek Prem Katha) has gone on to become one of the biggest hits of 2001. For an industry that was going through a total slump, these two hits were welcome relief.

Aamir Khan, for his part, is making sure that Lagaan continues to remain in news till the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Aamir has left for the US and UK for his stage show. "I go for my shows every four years. Since I do only one film a year, I prefer this kind of gap. This way, I have a collection of songs to perform at my shows," he explains.
