Another Phoolan Devi film to hit the marquee

Phoolan Devi A film on the life and times of slain Bandit Queen-turned-MP Phoolan Devi, is likely to hit the big screen next month.

The film Chingari Aur Sholay has Phoolan Devi and her husband Umed Singh acting for 45-50 minutes.

The producers claim that other films and books about the Bandit Queen did not portray the complete picture of her life. This film, they said, had been made according to her wishes.

Shooting for the film, which boasts of veterans like Pran and Kiran Kumar, commenced in 1995 and was completed in 1998.

A chip of the old block

Santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma's son Rahul Sharma is elated with his soundtrack for the Hrithik-Kareena film -- Mujse Dosti Karoge.

He has already recorded five of the six songs of the film being made under the Yashraj banner.

Rahul had assisted his father and the flute exponent, Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, in compositions for Silsila, Chandani, Lamhe and Daar.

Yash Chopra had noticed Rahul's talent and he found him suitable for his new project, so he let him debut in the film as music director.

Meet your match in the Lagaan XI

Lagaan Aamir Khan Productions and Britannia Industries have joined hands to launch a promotional campaign for Lagaan.

'The Britannia Lagaan Match', offers consumers a chance to play a game of cricket with the men 'who took on the might of the British empire against all odds.'

Sunil Alagh of Britannia said the purchase of Britannia's 'Tiger' packs would enable people to participate.

10,000 early bird prizes -- an exclusive full size cricket bat autographed by the Lagaan XI are also up for grabs.

Aamir, who was present at the press conference along with the members of the Lagaan XI, said the cricket match was his idea.

15 winners will receive an all expenses trip for the Britannia Lagaan Match. The winning numbers are the only selection criteria -- age, sex and the playing ability of the team members is irrelevant.

The match is scheduled to be held in the third week of December, in Bombay.

A Rs 500 million film on the Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal Akbar Khan, known for his opulent TV serial productions, will use an ancient fort in Rajasthan for his Rs 500 million Taj Mahal-An Eternal Love Story.

The centuries-old Meharangadh Fort in Jodhpur and a special set recreating the Taj's original interiors with emerald-sapphire-crusted walls and gold doors will form the backdrop for the film.

International actor Kabir Bedi has been roped in for this Hindi film which will also be dubbed in English.

A technical crew from the United States will help Khan with special effects.

Shooting for the film will begin in October and is expected to be completed in six months.
