Manjrekar on a roll!

Komal Nahta

Mahesh Manjrekar's Nidaan might have met with failure at the box office, but that doesn't seem to have dampened his spirit. Manjrekar is going strong as he awaits the release of his Govinda-Sonali-Rinke Khanna starrer, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai and the offbeat Hindi-Marathi bilingual Astitva.

He has also now gone ahead and taken up two more films: Tera Mera Saath Rahe, produced by Babloo Pachisia, starring Ajay Devgan, Sushmita Sen and Namrata Shirodkar. The second film, produced by Time Movies, is still untitled.

The director has just completed Kurukshetra, a present-day version of the Mahabharat, starring Sanjay Dutt, Mahima Chaudhury and Salil Ankola. Incidentally, both his new films were launched on September 11 and at the same place!

The venue was a set constructed by art director R Varman on the lawns of Hotel Horizon at Juhu, Bombay. The morning saw the muhurat of Babloo Pachisia's film and the evening was the Time film muhurat.

"The launch of Time film on 11th was only to avoid the inauspicious shraddh period which began on the 13th," explained Manjrekar.
