May 02, 2006 18:08 IST

Fifty-seven constituencies in three districts would go to the polls on Wednesday in the fourth phase of assembly election in West Bengal to decide the fate of 288 aspirants including Industry minister Nirupam Sen.

Of the 57 seats, 19 are in Murshidabad, 26 in Burdwan and 12 in Birbhum districts.

Apart from the Industry minister, Power Minister Mrinal Banerjee and Animal Husbandry minister Anisur Rahman would also try their luck in this phase.

None of these constituencies would witness straight contests. Like the previous three rounds, tight security arrangements have been made for the fourth phase as well.

Central paramilitary forces would man the polling booths, Election Commission sources said. Election has already been held in 187 constituencies.
