Jhar: Guv arrives amidst protest
March 05, 2005 16:20 IST
Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi on Saturday arrived in Ranchi from Delhi.
The ruling United Progressive Alliance gave him a colourful welcome, while the National Democratic Alliance workers staged black flag demonstrations.
At least 100 Bharatiya Janata Party supporters shouted slogans like 'Go back Sibtey Razi' and 'Sibtey Razi hai hai' outside the airport even before the governor's aircraft touched down.

On the other hand, the UPA organised a folk dance and its supporters sang and danced to drumbeats.
A posse of policemen stood between the two groups.
The police then escorted the governor out of the aircraft.
President A P J Abdul Kalam summoned Razi to Delhi on Thursday after the latter invited UPA's Shibu Soren to form the government in Jharkhand when the rival NDA appeared to have the numbers in its favour.
The UPA had merely submitted a list of 36 MLAs while the NDA had earlier paraded 41 MLAs before Razi.
The move to invite Soren ahead of the NDA resulted in widespread protests and Razi, after meeting Kalam, said he would reduce the time given to Soren to prove his majority in the house.
