Two Congress legislators from Jammu and Kashmir, who virtually revolted against the decision of the party high command to hand over the chief ministership to the People's Democratic Party, relented on Sunday evening.
"I have been contacted by the Congress high command and assured that the points raised by us would be looked into and fulfilled. Therefore, we agree to the party's decision," Taj Mohiuddin, legislator from Uri in north Kashmir, said.
Mohiuddin said he and other members of the party, besides some independents, had expressed full faith in the statesmanship of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Earlier, Mohiuddin and Mohammed Shafi Bhat, another Congress legislator, had said the high command had ignored their desire by announcing the name of Sayeed.
