Unhappy with the inability of the Congress and the PDP to sew together an alliance, CPI-M MLA Mohammed Yusuf Tarigami on Monday said that both the Congress and PDP should show more responsibility in their attitude.
An alliance of independent and CPI-M MLAs led by Tarigami on Monday morning met senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh, who is in Srinagar to work out the modalities of forming a coalition government with the PDP.
During the talks, held in the presence of seven MLAs of the alliance and state PCC chief Ghulam Nabi Azad, Singh briefed Tarigami about his discussions on Sunday with PDP chief Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.
Emerging from the breakfast meeting, Tarigami told reporters that he hoped that 'something would emerge by this evening'.
He said the people were pining their hopes on the luncheon meeting between Singh and Sayeed.
Meanwhile, PDP vice-president Mehbooba Mufti told PTI that the party would not be content with the deputy chief minister's post.
The Congress should understand that only the PDP could fulfill the aspirations of the people of the state, she said.
