Congress, PDP must get ready to
sacrifice: Tarigami

Election 2002 Onkar Singh in New Delhi

Communist Party of India-Marxist veteran and leader of the seven-member People's Democratic Forum, Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami, on Saturday urged leaders of the Congress and People's Democratic Party to sacrifice their personal interests for the sake of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Leaders of the Congress and the People's Democratic Party should get ready to sacrifice. We need to have a popular government in place as early as possible," he said after a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi.

He asked them not to miss out on the golden opportunity given by the people to form a coalition government.

"Sonia Gandhi shares our concern to have a government in Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible," he said.

Asked if the PDF would support the Congress in case the PDP refused to negotiate on the issue of chief ministership, he said, "I will answer this question in Srinagar after meeting the PDP leadership."
