on government formation

Onkar Singh in Srinagar

Election 2002

National Conference president Omar Abdullah on Monday met Jammu and Kashmir Governor G C Saxena for consultations on government formation in the state.

The governor invited Abdullah as the NC is the single largest party with 28 legislator in the 87-member assembly.

He is likely to meet J&K Pradesh Congress Committee president Ghulam Nabi Azad and People's Democratic Party leader Mufti Mohammed Sayeed on Tuesday.

"It is a time to keep quiet and say nothing. The situation is fluid and it is better to watch the situation," Abdullah told rediff.com after the meeting.

When pressed, he said, "I had good tea and a few mutton chops that were delicious,"

The NC president will fly to New Delhi on Monday to resign from the Union Council of Ministers.
