Deve Gowda increases lead to 63,000 votes

Election 2002

Former Prime Minister and JD(S) President H D Devegowda has increased his lead by over 63,000 votes against Congress' D K Shivakumar as the counting for the fourth round was in progress in the Kanakapura Lok Sabha constituency.

Gowda polled 2,44,963 votes against his Congress rival's 2,23,544 votes.

BJP's Eshwarappa polled 1,07,433 votes.
