Congress establishes formidable lead in Kaliabor LS seat

Election 2002

Congress candidate Deep Gogoi has established a formidable lead of over 1,42,925 votes over his nearest rival Thogi Gogoi of BJP in Kaliabor Lok Sabha constituency.

Gogoi established an early lead in all the ten assembly segments of the constituency, where by-election was held in February 21.

Gogoi has polled 2,59,181 votes so far followed by Thogi Gogoi with 1,16,256 and Rashidul Haque of Samata Party with 89,805 votes.

Asom Gana Parishad's Bhadreswar Tanti was way behind with 46,632, while the remaining candidate Abedur Rahman of NCP polled 3967 votes.
