61.52% electorate cast votes in Gujarat

The Gujarat assembly election on Tuesday witnessed 61.52 per cent polling, according to the final figures released by the state Election Commission.
The districts that were worst hit by the post-Godhra riots registered 65 per cent polling, a statement released by the commission said.
Panchmahal in central Gujarat, which includes the Godhra constituency, witnessed 60 per cent polling, it said.
Kutch, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar, which fall in Saurashtra and Kutch regions, saw 55 per cent voting, as also the newly created Narmada district.
In Rajkot, 60 per cent of the electorate exercised franchise while Valsad, Amreli and Gandhinagar polled 62 per cent.
Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha and Bharuch polled 65 per cent each, official sources said.
Dangs and Surendranagar saw 58 per cent.
Dahod witnessed 63 per cent, Surat 65 and Junagadh 61 per cent of polling.
