123 LS, 353 assembly seats set for polls

The month-long general elections enter its second phase tomorrow with 123 Lok Sabha and 353 assembly constituencies going to polls in eight states.

Over 137 million people will decide the electoral fortune of 873 LS candidates, including former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, Lok Sabha Speaker G M C Balayogi, Union ministers Dr Satya Narayan Jatiya, V K Ramamurthy and Babagouda Patil, Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar, former Union ministers Madhu Dandavate, K Karunakaran, Rajesh Pilot, Margaret Alva and Murasoli Maran, Congress general secretary Madhavrao Scindia, Indian Union Muslim League national president G M Banatwala and BJP deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha O Rajagopal.

The 123 LS seats are spread across Maharashtra (24), Kerala and Tamil Nadu (20 each), Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh (15 each), Madhya Pradesh (14), Karnataka (13) and Jammu and Kashmir (two).

The assembly elections are held in Andhra Pradesh (105), Karnataka (104) and Maharashtra (144). LS elections in Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu will come to an end tomorrow.
