Former agriculture minister Rao Birendra Singh's constituency, for he was elected thrice from here. Veteran Congress leader Ram Singh who was elected in 1991 on its ticket, switched sides to the BJP and managed to retain the seat for his new-found party in 1996. He defeated Rao Birendra Singh by more than 50,000 votes.
