Kolkata Knight Riders' spin sensation Sunil Narine added another feather to his cap when he registered the first hat-trick in the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League, against Kings XI Punjab, in Mohali, on Tuesday.
The West Indies star took the wickets of David Hussey, Azhar Mahmood and Gurkeerat Singh with successive deliveries in his third over to complete the unique feat.
David Hussey looked set for a big innings till he was done in by the extra bounce from Narine.
He tried to play the cut shot but got an edge, which was taken by wicketkeeper Manvinder Bisla for 12, in the 15th over of the innings.
Azhar Mahmood was dismissed for a first ball duck as he tried to turn it on the leg side but got a leading edge and offered Narine a simple return catch.
Young Gurkeerat Singh was done in by Narine's guile. He failed to read the carrom ball delivery that went the other way and was bowled for a duck.
Narine also got his hands on the Purple Cap for being the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. Thus far, he has 10 wickets in five matches, at an amazing strike rate of 12.
