As the mater batsman crossed the white line never to walk back on the field with his willow the whole stadium rose for the batting icon.
The virtual world was also flooded with salutations to Tendulkar.
Spin legend Bishan Bedi wrote on Twitter, “Well played Maestro and more! You have given us Indians a collective height like never before! May you live long SRT and be at peace with yourself always!”
Former Australian Cricketer Tom Moody wrote, “Probably the last time Sachin makes that painful walk off the field after being dismissed, it's been an amazing journey by a unique man!”
Among the many tributes on Twitter, Australian spin legend Shane Warne tweeted that Tendulkar is the best batsman that he has ever seen, along with Brian Lara, adding that the two 'were so much better than everybody else'.
New Zealand Cricket (BLACKCAPS) tweeted, “Pleasure to watch today, and for the last 24 years.”
Tweeting a picture of Sachin Tendulkar making his India debut, former England captain Michael Vaughan wrote that “24 yrs later a God was created”.
Former Australian pace bowler Brett Lee bid the Master Blaster farewell, wishing him the best for his future and saying that Tendulkar is a true legend of the game.
South Africa cricket player Pat Symcox tweeted, “Unquestionably the most committed cricketer to his country to have ever played the game. He has given more than taken for so long.”
Stuart Broad and Joe Root of England tweeted their praise and appreciation of the Indian star. Broad tweeted, “remarkable achievement by a legend of the sport they love” while Root said that he is proud to have played against Tendulkar on his own Test debut.
English musician Mick Jagger tweeted, “Saluting you @Sachin_RT on your last Test match. Thanks for all the wonderful cricket you've shown us over the last 25 years, we'll miss you.”
