PHOTOS: Steyn lifts SA to victory as Kallis bows out

South Africa crushed India by a convincing 10-wicket margin to win the second Test at the Kingsmead in Durban, on Monday to give their batting great Jacques Kallis a winning farewell.

The victory also saw the hosts clinch the two-match series 1-0 after the first match in Johannesburg had ended in a thrilling draw.

It is the fifth time that India have lost a Test series on South African soil, managing a 1-1 draw only once in 2010-11 rubber. India have never won a series in South Africa and now have lost nine of the last 10 overseas Tests.

Steyn's double strike flattens India

Dale Steyn struck with the first delivery of the fifth and final day, getting the wicket of Virat Kohli caught behind for 11. However, replays showed that the ball had missed the edge of the bat and hit his shoulder on the way to wicketkeeper AB de Villiers.

In his next over, he claimed the wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara, who was bowled for 32, to boost South Africa's chance of winning the game.

Peterson impresses with the ball

Left-arm spinner Robert Peterson struck twice in an over to leave India in tatters. First captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (15) chipped one to the fielder at midwicket before Ravindra Jadeja (8) went for a big shot down the ground but got an outside edge and was caught on the off-side.

He finished with impressive figures of four for 74 in 24 overs in the second innings after he had a quickfire 61 with the bat.

Rahane wages lone battle with the bat

Ajinkya Rahane waged a lone battle with the bat for India despite wickets falling from the other end to finish with two excellent half-centuries in the match.

The Mumbai youngster was unlucky to miss out on a deserved century as he was bowled by Vernon Philander for 96. He delayed the inevitable as he helped India avoid the innings defeat in the company of tailenders before they were bowled out for 223 in their second innings.

South Africa cruise to victory

South Africa's openers wasted no time in getting to the victory target of 58.

Graeme Smith (27) and Alviro Petersen (31) played attacking shots right from the start as they cruised to victory in 11.4 overs in the post tea session.

The victory was a befitting farewell gift to their retiring hero Kallis, who himself had a memorable match by cracking his 45th Test hundred.
