Delhi Daredevils failed to capitalise on a lifeline and came up short in the Super Over eliminator against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their Pepsi Indian Premier League match on Tuesday.
RCB's win, their fourth in six games this season, takes them to the top of the table.
Delhi failed to make the most of a good start provided by their openers, managing just 152 for five. The home team managed the same number of runs but did better in the Super Over to scrape through.
Sehwag got off to a good start before being caught by Virat Kohli off Andrew McDonald.
Delhi failed to build any substantial partnership, the highest being the opening stand of 43 off 34 balls between Virender Sehwag (25) and David Warner (15) at the Chinnaswamy stadium.
Sehwag hit the kind of rhythm he is known for in foruth over of the match dispatching Unadkat for three boundaries in a row.
If Sehwag was continuing with his blitzkreig, his opening partner Warner was also looking to smash the balls coming his way.
Alas, it was not to be.
Bangalore bowlers put up a disciplined effort to deny the visiting side easy runs.
Pacer Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets for 24 runs. Two other bowlers, Vinay Kumar and Andrew McDonald, took a wicket each.
Kedar Jadhav top-scored with a 16-ball unbeaten 29 which he made with the help of two fours and a six while Sehwag (25), captain Mahela Jayawardene (28) and Irfan Pathan (19 not out) were the other notable contributors.
Delhi were to blame themselves as most of them were out to loose shots as they lost four wickets for 91 in 14.1 overs.
Chris Gayle (13) got off to a good start, hitting two huge sixes off Morne Morkel.
The West Indies opener's contest with the South African bowler looked good when it lasted.
However, Morkel's strategy of bowling around the wicket worked wonders when he had Gayle caught by Umesh Yadav at third man.
Having lost two wickets with just 26 runs on board, the home team needed a partnership to stabilise the innings.
And that is precisely what captain Virat Kohli (65) and AB de Villiers (39) provided, putting on 103 runs for the third wicket, in just 75 balls.
In the process, Kohli completed his 11th IPL fifty. He was named the man of the match for his effort.
De Villiers also looked on course for a fifty before he was run out by countryman Morne Morkel. His wicket gave Delhi a lifeline and they picked up four wickets in quick succession to take the game to a Super Over.
However, De Villiers struck two huge sixes off Umesh Yadav in the same before Ravi Rampaul took two wickets to help the home team's cause.
