IPL PHOTOS: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings

Royal Challengers Bangalore are still in the hunt for a play-off spot. They defeated formidable Chennai Super Kings by 24 runs in a rain-hit match in Bangalore on Saturday.

Chennai elect to bowl in the eight-over match. Virat Kohli's blistering 29-ball-56 enabled Royal Challengers post 106 for 2 and then restrict Chennai to 82 for six.

The match started nearly three hours late, at 11 pm, because of the rain.

While CSK inducted Chris Morris in place of Albie Morkel, RCB had Saurabh Tiwary and Rudra Pratap Singh in place of the two Kartiks -- Murali and Arun.

Kohli blitz leaves Chennai stunned

Bangalore's captain Virat Kohli led by example. He started firing runs right from the first ball.

He finished the last over with a boundary as RCB ended with 106-2 in their eight overs.

Kohli was unbeaten on 56.

Bravo bags the wicket of Gayle

Dwayne Bravo bagged the prized wicket of Chris Gayle.

The West Indies ace tried to slap a delivery outside off-stump, but hit it straight to Michael Hussey at extra cover.

Gayle went for 28.

Zaheer's strikes rock CSK

Chennai openers Mike Hussey and Murali Vijay had a stiff task on hand.

Zaheer Khan struck for RCB. He had Mike Hussey walking back after being brilliantly caught behind the stumps for 6.

He then dismissed Suresh Raina off the next ball, the batsman giving a simple catch to Jaidev Unadkat.

Bowlers steer RCB to victory

The victory enabled RCB finished their league engagements with 18 points. They will now hope that Kolkata Knight Riders beat Hyderabad Sunrisers on Sunday, as that will ensure their passage to the play-offs by virtue of a better net run-rate.
