Rajasthan Royals recorded a comfortable six-wicket victory over Punjab in Jaipur on Sunday.
Earlier, After being put into bat, Kings XI Punjab lost an early wicket in the form of captain Adam Gilchrist, who was dismissed for a duck.
The left-hander was caught at mid-off by Siddharth Trivedi off S Sreesanth in the second over of the innings.
Rajasthan pacer S Sreesanth rocked Punjab early claiming the wickets of both the openers in his first over.
Mandeep Singh made just two before he slashed his bat at a wide short delivery but holed out to Stuart Binny at thirdman.
Manan Vora also perished cheaply when he was run out for three as Punjab were left reeling at 10 for three in the fourth over.
David Hussey rallied Punjab after the horror start with a blazing innings of 41 from 31 balls.
But Punjab kept losing wickets from the other end and were struggling at 57 for four after 10 overs.
Siddharth Trivedi continued his impressive performance with the ball as he took two for 21 including the key wicket of Hussey.
Azhar Mahmood hit 23 from 20 balls and Praveen Kumar made 15 from seven balls before Punjab were bowled out for 124 in 18.5 overs.
Chasing the modest target, Shane Watson got Rajasthan off to a blazing start.
Watson muscled his way to 32 off just 19 balls with the help of seven boundaries before he was caught by Mandeep Singh of a short delivery off Awana but not before powering Rajasthan to 43 in 4.4 overs.
Later, Praveen Kumar and Piyush Chawla struck quick blows to peg back Rajasthan, but only for so long.
Rajasthan then rode on Ajinkya Rahane's unbeaten 34 off 42 balls and debutant Sanju Samson's unbeaten 27 to chase down the target with four balls to spare.
With the asking rate under their control, Rahane and Samson played sensibly and shared an unbroken 47-run partnership for the fifth wicket to guide Rajasthan home.
