- Scorecard

The Kolkata Knight Riders owner was not allowed inside the Wankhede for the match.

Blame it on the brawl in the corresponding fixture last year.

However, it was good that the KKR owner wasn't allowed. He would have anyways wanted to avoid the mauling his side received in the evening even as Mumbai Indians kept their perfect home record intact, scoring a sixth straight win.

KKR was bowled out for 105 in 18.2 overs as Mumbai won by 65 runs.

Having suffered their eighth defeat, it is safe to say that the defending champions won't be able to repeat their feat.

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar regaled the spectators at the Wankhede.

The Master Blaster scored 48, his 28-ball innings inclusive of eight boundaries, five of them coming in one Ryan McLaren over, the fourth of the innings.

It's the hurry in which he was scoring that cost him his wicket, a Rajat Bhatia delivery crashing on to his leg stumps.

Dwayne Smith yet again impressed in his opening role.

The West Indies batsman scored a solid 47, his innings replete with seven boundaries.

Besides, he helped Tendulkar add 93 runs for the opening wicket, off just 13 overs.

Lakshmipathy Balaji was the most economical bowler for Kolkata, giving away just seven runs in the three overs he bowled.

It was surprising that he wasn't given a fourth over.

The floodlights go out at the Wankhede

Even as Mumbai's openers continued their onslaught, reprieve for Kolkata came in the form of a power failure, the floodlights in one tower completely going off.

It happened after the ninth over and the players were forced to go off the pitch for 18 minutes.

The home team had scored 63 at that point.

Needing a formidable 171 to keep their hopes alive, Kolkata needed a great start from their opening pair.

Alas, it wasn't to be.

Mitchell Johnson struck with his fourth ball, dismissing Gautam Gambhir for a second ball duck, the KKR captain having his stumps shattered.

The Australian returned to account for Sunil Narine (3) and take his tally in the tournament to 16.
