IPL PHOTOS: Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians

Kings XI Punjab won the IPL encounter against Mumbai Indians by 50 runs in Dharamsala, on Saturday.

Punjab have bowed out of the IPL while Mumbai advance to the play-offs.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl against Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League.

Gilchrist was playing the final match of his professional career and was lucky to sign off with a victory.

Local boy Rishi Dhawan, who plays for Himachal Pradesh in domestic cricket made an impressive start with a wicket and maiden over.

Mahmood played an amazing innings

Azhar Mahmood walked in to bat at No 3 and played an important role to steady the sinking Kings XI ship.

Before bowing to Malinga, Mahmood played an amazing innings of 80 from 44 balls, hitting eight fours and four sixes.

Marsh looked in good touch

Shaun Marsh started off in some style and looked in good touch.

Marsh lifted Punjab after a horror start but finally Harbhajan claimed the wicket of Marsh.

He was dismissed after a good innings of 63 from 47 balls, hitting 11 boundaries in total. He put on 148 runs from 86 balls for the second wicket with Mahmood to put Punjab in control.

The Kings XI lads set up target of 184 for the Mumbai Indians.

Awana bags Rayudu's wicket

Aditya Tare and Glenn Maxwell opened the Mumbai Indians batting but Maxwell was out for a duck.

Ambati Rayudu walked in to bat at No 3.

Parwinder Awana continued with his great form and kept the line and length tight.

The pressure tactics worked as Rayudu played a rash pull shot and was out after scoring 26 from 22 balls.

Rohit out for 25

Mumbai's captain Rohit Sharma came at No 4 and scored some vital runs.

But it was Punjab's Piyush Chawla's day as he struck with the key wicket of Sharma, who tried to cut but missed and was bowled for 25 from as many balls.

Adam Gilchrist tried to have some fun and in the bargain bagged a wicket too.

The Kings XI Punjab skipper decided to bowl now and Praveen Kumar took up the gloves.

Gilchrist had a slip in place to trap Harbhajan Singh.

A winning farewell for Gilchrist who made it memorable by picking up a wicket.

Punjab though have bowed out of the IPL while Mumbai advance to the play-offs with a lot to ponder.
