Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 43rd match of the Pepsi Indian Premier League in Hyderabad, on Wednesday.
Interestingly, both teams went in with an unchanged line-up from their previous games.
Shikhar Dhawan's unbeaten knock of 73 helped Hyderabad thrash Mumbai by seven wickets.
Mumbai's veteran batsman Sachin Tendulkar failed again with the bat.
- Should Mumbai Indians drop Tendulkar?
He made 14 from 12 balls before he was bowled through the gate by pacer Ishant Sharma as Mumbai lost an early wicket.
Twin strikes in one over from Ishant jolted the Mumbai Indians camp as he followed the wicket of Tendulkar with the scalp of in-form Dinesh Karthik for a duck.
Karthik was caught at point by Karan Sharma trying to play an uppish drive.
Ishant registered wonderful figures of two for 15 in four overs, including a maiden over.
Leg-spinner Amit Mishra continued his good form with the ball as he took for two in four overs.
Mishra removed both Rohit Sharma (22) and Dwayne Smith (38) in the same over as Hyderabad's bowlers never allowed the Mumbai batters to flourish.
Mishra is currently the joint highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 16 wickets in 10 games, the same tally as James Faulkner (7 games) and Dwayne Bravo (10 games).
Ambati Rayadu hit a breezy 34 from 27 balls to help Mumbai score a few quick runs in the end to reach 129 for four in their 20 overs.
Kieron Pollard struggled to get going on a slow pitch as he made 14 from 19 balls.
Sunrisers Hyderabad lost an early wicket when Mitchell Johnson dismissed Akshath Reddy for seven in the third over of the innings.
Shikhar Dhawan rallied Hyderabad following an early wicket. He hit Dhawan Kulkarni for a couple of boundaries in the second before Kumar Sangakkara repeated the dose against Harbhajan Singh as the hosts reached 36 for one after six overs.
Harbhajan Singh checked Hyderabad's progress with the wicket of captain Sangakkara, who was caught and bowled for 21.
Sangakkara and Dhawan put on 37 runs for the second wicket.
Dhawan guided Hyderabad home with a splendid innings of 73 not out from 55 balls, having hit nine fours and a six.
Dhawan and Hanuma Vihari (25) put on 124 runs from 56 balls for the third wicket as Hyderabad registered an easy seven-wicket victory with two overs to spare.
