PHOTOS: Punjab knock out Delhi Daredevils by seven wickets
Kings XI Punjab outperformed Delhi Daredevils when their bowlers did well to restrict the latter and notch up a convincing seven-wicket win in Mohali on Sunday.
It was Delhi’s last match and captain Kevin Pietersen was the lone performer as the Daredevils ended their dismal campaign on a low.
Opening the batting for Delhi, Pietersen batted in his own flambouyant style, cracking a 41-ball 58 (4x4s) but got no support from his teammates.

Karthik flattered to decieve
Delhi’s batsmen put on a pathetic batting display and save Pietersen none of the other batsmen scored over 15 runs.
It was another irresponsible batting performance from opener Mayank Agarwal, who wasted precious deliveries before (2) being caught by Virender Sehwag off Johnson.
Then came in Dinesh Karthik at No 3, who batted with a semblance of urgency, however even he failed to stay around and support Pietersen.
After smacking 3 boundaries for his 13 runs (off 7 deliveries), Karthik fell to Parvinder Awana delivery, offering a catch to Akshar Patel.

Kedar Jadhav (0), promoted up the order, tried to hit Awana over mid-off, but Vohra took a smart overhead catch to reduce Daredevils to 44 for three at the end of Powerplay.
Manoj Tiwary (8) was a victim of a mix-up as non-striker Pietersen ran straight to the batsman's end without looking at the point fielder, who lobbed it back to the bowler at the non-striker's end to do the needful.
Even JP Duminy failed to score in double figures and Delhi were ultimately shot out for 115 in 18.1 overs.

Chasing the easy target, Virender Sehwag and Manan Vohra opened the batting the Punjab and the latter asserted himself from the word go.
Although Punjab lost Sehwag early, Manan Vohra took matters in his hands and smashed 47 off 38 balls.

Later, Glen Maxwell was dismissed for a duck but that didn't stop the Punjab batsmen from stepping on the accelerator.
David Miller then joined Vohra in the middle and both batsmen knocked off 96 runs off 10 overs to seal the impressive win.
