England paceman Chris Tremlett is a doubtful starter for the second Test against India as he is yet to recover from a hamstring problem and stiff back, local media reported on Thursday.
The second match is starting at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, with the hosts leading the four-Test series 1-0.
"The giant Surrey paceman missed training on Wednesday with a tight hamstring and England fear he will not recover in time," a report in the Daily Mail said.
"Tremlett also has a stiff back after his exertions in the dramatic first Test victory at Lord's," the report added.
Bresnan could replace Tremlett

Tremlett had taken four wickets, including three in first Indian innings, in the first Test at Lord's.
India are also likely to miss pace spearhead Zaheer Khan, who is also recovering from a hamstring problem, for the crucial match, which the visitors need to win to square the series.
Khan did not bowl in the England second innings in the first match, which India lost by a massive 196-run margin.
