Day two of the second Test proved a good one for England after captain Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen put up a gritty performance to take their team to 178 for two at stumps.

Pietersen now records 3000 runs away from home

# With 304 runs at an average of 152.00, Cook became the first batsman to manage 300 runs in the series for England.
# Cook and Pietersen produced a third highest partnership (110 - unbroken) for England against India in India.
Under-performing Trott's average falls below 50
