Virat Kohli scored the fastest ODI century by an Indian against Australia, from 52 deliveries, as India won the second ODI between the countries in Jaipur on Wednesday night by nine wickets.
After coming in at the fall of opener Shikhar Dhawan’s wicket, so brutal was his assault that the Aussie bowlers were left stunned as they watched the ball repeatedly cross the ropes.
Kohli’s hundred was studded with eight fours and seven sixes. In the process, the 25-year-old broke Virender Sehwag's 60-ball century record against New Zealand in 2009.
It was the seventh fastest ODI hundred as India, in posting 362 for 1, registered their highest successful chase in ODIs, eclipsing the 330 for four versus Pakistan at Mirpur on March 18, 2012.
Was Kohli’s 16th ODI century, in 115 matches, his best?
