Master bastman Sachin Tendulkar's long wait for his hundredth century in international cricket finally ended when he took a single on the leg side off Shakib Al Hassan, in the 44th over of the Asia Cup match against Bangladesh in Mirpur on Friday.
The veteran batsman, playing his 462nd One-Day International, took 138 balls to get to the hundred, which was inclusive of 10 fours and a six.
- Congratulate Tendulkar on his 100th ton
Besides several other batting records, Tendulkar now has 51 Test hundreds and 49 in One-day internationals to his name.
His last hundred was in India's World Cup-winning campaign, in the group match against South Africa in Nagpur in March 2011, when he scored 111, as the Proteas went on to win by three wickets, with two ball remaining.
Since then Tendulkar played 11 Tests and an 13 ODIs – a total of 36 innings, which include the series against England away, and the West Indies at home, and four ODIs, all in the World Cup, but failed to attain the milestone.
