- Jahurul Islam made his Twenty20 international debut in Wednesday's WT20 match against Australia. He became 28th player to represent Bangladesh in T20Is.
- The seventh wicket partnership of 74 runs between Mike Hussey and Steve Smith is Australia's highest for this wicket in T20Is. The pair obliterated the previous record stand of 57 between Brad Hogg and Brett Lee at Johannesburg on 24-02-2006.
- The above partnership was also the highest partnership in the World Cup and second highest in all T20Is for the seventh wicket. Kumar Sangakkara and Angelo Mathews had added 68 runs (without being separated) against Pakistan at Lord's on 21-06-2009, which was the previous highest seventh wicket stand in a world cup match.
- Mohammad Ashraful was opening the innings for the second time in his T20I career. He had also done this against New Zealand at Hamilton on 03-02-2010, making 11 off 14 balls.
-Both Bangladesh openers -- Imrul Kayes and Mohammad Ashraful -- were dismissed without scoring. This provided the second such instance in the World Cup and fourth in all T20Is. The complete list:

- Mike Hussey became the second Australian to hold three catches in a match, after Brett Lee who did so against Sri Lanka at Cape Town on 20-09-2007.
- Hussey took his tally of catches in T20Is to 15. Only Ross Taylor (20) and AB de Villiers (18) have taken more in the field.
- Dirk Nannes (4-18) returned the best figures by an Australian in this format of the game, bettering Stuart Clarke's 4-20 against Sri Lanka at Cape Town on 20-09-2007.
- Nannes' figures are also the best by any bowler against Bangladesh, beating India's Pragyan Ojha's 4-21 at Nottingham on 06-06-2009.
- Shafiul Islam's six off Steve Smith was the 100th six in this edition of World Cup.
- Bangladesh have now lost 12 T20I matches in a row. Their last win was against West Indies at Johannesburg on 13-09-2007. This is the longest streak of defeats by any side in Twenty20 internationals' history.
- The Man of Match award was second for Mike Hussey. He became fourth Australian after Nathan Bracken, Shaun Tait and David Warner to win two MoM awards.
