Even as he led Sri Lanka to a big win with a fluent half-century, skipper Mahela Jayawardene stressed on the ploy to rotate his bowlers, which laid the West Indies low in the ICC World Twenty20 in Pallekele on Saturday night.

"When they were going after our bowlers I just kept changing the bowlers. We just wanted to create pressure, so just kept changing. Sometimes it works, sometime it doesn't," Jayawardene said.

He called the nine-wicket win a good performance overall.

"Overall a very good effort. Once we got through the first 12 overs I told Kumar (Sangakkara) we should finish this as quickly as possible."

He had a word of praise for his bowlers. "They bowled well."

West Indies captain Darren Sammy felt all is not lost for his side.

"NZ game is a must-win for us. We have one more chance to win and qualify for semis," he said.

He thought the Lankans used the conditions better at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

"We are always a boundary hitting team. We bowled too short and wide. The Sri Lankan bowlers bowled fuller and we didn't do that enough," Sammy said.
