Fast bowler Chris Tremlett will replace the injured Stuart Broad in England's World Cup squad, the England and Wales Cricket Board told Reuters on Wednesday.
- Side strain puts Broad out of World Cup
The choice needs to be confirmed by tournament organisers, the International Cricket Council.
"England has requested to the International Cricket Council ICC) for Chris Tremlett to replace Stuart Broad," said the team spokesman.
Broad, 24, who had so far been the pick of the England attack at the World Cup, pulled out of the 15-strong party on Tuesday with a side strain.
Tremlett, who also replaced him in England's successful Ashes win in Australia, has been in the sub-continent with the party.
Broad's was the second injury suffered by England this week after Kevin Pietersen pulled out with a hernia on Monday. He was replaced by Eoin Morgan.
