In Srinivas Bhogle and Purnendu Maji's analysis of the Most Valuable Players of the World Cup, there are only four Indians in the top 10!

If you look for Indian players on this list of the 2011 World Cup's most valuable players you find something very interesting: four Indians figure in the top 10, but, thereafter, Indians appear only at places 32, 34, 42 and 47!

- World Cup coverage

That's been India's problem: We are expecting four super-performers to compensate for seven under-performers. The distribution is markedly skewed.

- Who were the most valuable players of 2007 WC?

And don't even try to look for India's captain in the top 50 list. Our spreadsheet shows that he's currently at 57th place, having scored 96 runs in 5 matches at a strike rate of just 70.6.

Shahid Afridi is still MVP, but Tillakaratne Dilshan is fast catching up.

Most valuable players in the 2011 World Cup so far (after 29 matches, as on 12.3.2011)
