A member of India's World Cup campaigns in 1987 and 1992, More was rated as the best wicketkeeper of his generation.
More played 49 Tests and 94 One-Day Internationals between 1984 and 1994. He was vice-captain of India on its tour to New Zealand in 1989-90.
In his life after cricket, More was also an able cricket administrator. His most important contribution was as the chairman of selectors when the path for new India was charted by his panel.
He is also a leading figure in the formation of cricket's first league -- the Indian Cricket League. Now one of the most authoritative voices on cricket, More's analysis of the game marks him out as one of the sharpest analysts in the country.
And now Kiran More dons a new avatar, as an expert analyst on rediff.com for the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, which has seen some major upsets, but nothing like Ireland's rout of England. Fresh from that upset, Ireland is itching to do an encore versus India this weekend.
