A sports kit containing six bats of Ireland cricket team member was stolen after their World Cup Group B match against India in Bangalore, police said on Monday.

The visitors discovered the theft after returning to their hotel rooms.

Irish cricketer Allen O' Brien has filed a complaint and an investigation is on, police said.

Allen said he asked the ground staff to load two of his bags onto the bus, but found one of the bags with the bats missing on reaching the hotel, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Division) G Ramesh said.

"The case is being investigated and we hope to trace the bag soon," he said.

Ireland put up a stellar performance here a few days ago, defeating England, but lost to India on Sunday.
