Kohli captain, Whatmore coach for u-19 WC squad

Delhi middle order batsman Virat Kohli was on Monday named by the junior national selectors to lead the India under-19 squad in the February 10-March 3 World Cup in Malaysia.

Dav Whatmore, the current director operations at the Bangalore-based National Cricket Academy, was named as the coach of the 15-strong squad with Saurashtra all rounder Ravinder Jadeja as Kohli's deputy.

The squad will undergo a preparatory camp in Bangalore from February 1-8 before leaving for Malaysia on February 9. 

India are pooled with West Indies, South Africa and Papua New Guinea in Group B and will play their preliminary league phase ties in Kuala Lumpur on February 17 (v PNG), 19 (v SA) and 22 (v WI).

The top two teams in each of the four groups (each comprising four teams) will qualify for the Super League quarter finals, to be played in Kuala Lumpur on February 24 and 25.

The semi finals are scheduled on February 27 and 29 and the final slated for March 3, all at Kuala Lumpur.

The squad: Virat Kohli (capt, Del), Abhinav Mukund (TN), Shreevats Goswami (Ben), Tanmay Srivastav (UP), Manish Pandey (Kar), Taruvar Kohli (Pun), Ravinder Jadeja (vice capt., Sau), Saurabh Tiwary (Del), D Sivakumar (Andh), Pradeep Sangwan (Del), Siddharth Kaul (Pun), Ajtesh Argal (Bar), Einstein Napolean (TN), Perry Goyal (Pun) and Iqbal Abdullah (Mum).
