T20: West Indies cruise to victory

March 16, 2009 11:36 IST

West Indies cruised to a six wicket victory over England in a one-off Twenty20 international in Trinidad on Sunday.

The hosts' excellent bowling and fielding restricted England to a modest 121 in 19.1 overs before Ramnaresh Sarwan's 59 put them in control and set up victory with two overs to spare.

England opener Steve Davies struck a solid 27 but after Kevin Pietersen was unluckily given out lbw and captain Andrew Strauss was brilliantly run out by Shivnarine Chanderpaul, England's batting folded meekly.

The West Indies coped comfortably with England's mediocre bowling which never threatened to force a result despite the early dismissal of Andre Fletcher.

England, who lost the Test series 1-0, continue their tour with the first of five one-day internationals in Guyana on March 20.
