We failed in all three departments: Bayliss

Sri Lanka coach Trevor Bayliss on Sunday blamed the careless attitude of his batsmen for the crushing eight-wicket loss against India but promised his side would come up with a better performance in the final of the tri-nation series on January 13.

"We have played very good games in our last three matches but we did not play well today. Rotten eggs on batting, they (batsmen) were careless," Bayliss said.

"We did not bat, field and bowl that well as we had done in our last three matches. But we hope to pull ourselves up and play better in the final," he added.

When suggested that India would be stronger with the return of Virender Sehwag, Ashish Nehra and Harbhajan Singh in the final on January 13, Bayliss said, "It will make no difference as we have played more often against an Indian side which had Sehwag, Harbhajan or Nehra. So there is no difference."

Bayliss was also not unduly concerned about India and Sri Lanka playing against each other so often in the recent past.

"Of course we would also want to play against other teams but it is always good to play against a strong side like India. Playing against a strong side like India benefits the younger players," he said.

Sri Lanka and India will create a new record of two sides playing maximum number of One-dayers between themselves in the final on January 13, surpassing the 120 ODIs between Australia and the West Indies.
