South Africa captain Jacques Kallis won the toss and elected to field in the first one-day international against India in Stormont, Belfast on Tuesday.
The Indian team, which was struggling to find 11 fit players on Monday as several of them were down with viral flu, left out Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ajit Agarkar and S Sreesanth.
Left-arm paceman Zaheer Khan returned to the Indian team after missing the match against Ireland. He replaced the unfit Sreesanth. Off-spinner Ramesh Powar came in for his Mumbai team mate Agarkar.
