Tendulkar named Test player of 21st century

Sachin Tendulkar broke countless cricket records during his playing days. He was one of the greatest batsmen the game has ever seen and even after retiring rules the hearts of fans.

The legendary cricketer was voted 'Best Test player of the 21st century' in an online poll conducted by Cricket Australia.

The 'Master Blaster' received an impressive 23 per cent of the votes in the poll, in which more than 16,000 fans participated.

Veteran Sri Lanka batsman Kumar Sangakkara bagged second spot, while the Australian duo of Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting were third and fourth respectively.

Former South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis was fifth.

Tendulkar amassed 15,921 runs, at an average of 53.78, in Test cricket, including 51 centuries, in his illustrious 24-year career.
