Statistical highlights at the end of fourth day's play in the third and final cricket Test between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo on Monday.

# India's total of 268 is their highest second innings total at Colombo (PSS), bettering their 198 in September 1985.

# Michael Vandort could not get going in the Test series, averaging 7.80 - 39 runs in five innings.

# Ajantha Mendis was the leading wicket-taker in the rubber with 26 wickets at 18.38 runs apiece, including two instances of five wickets or more in aninnings and one instance of ten wickets in a Test match. He has rightly been adjudged the Player of the Series.

# Mahela Jayawardene recorded his 32nd half-century in Test Cricket - his seventh against India.

# Mahela Jayawardene, with 279 runs at an average of 69.75 was the leading run-getter for Sri Lanka in the rubber.

# Warnapura posted his fourth fifty - his second against India.

# Sangakkara's 9th Man of the Match award was his first against India.

# Sri Lanka, with their eight-wicket win, have now won four Tests in a row at Colombo, PSS.

# Sri Lanka's aforesaid win is their second over India in three Tests at Colombo, PSS.

 # Sri Lanka (2-1), for the first time, have won successive Test series against India in Sri Lanka. They had won by a similar margin in 2001.

# India's eight-wicket defeat at Colombo (PSS) is their fifth in 15 Tests against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka (Won 3 and Drawn 7).

# Rahul Dravid (68) recorded his first fifty in ten innings. Dravid's said knock is his 30th fifty on foreign soil.

# Dravid's 8th fifty against Sri Lanka is his 52nd in Tests.

# VVS Laxman became the eighth batsman to amass 6,000 runs (ave.43.79) in Test Cricket. He is the eighth Indian batsman to achieve the distinction, joining Sachin Tendulkar (11877), Rahul Dravid (10246), Sunil Gavaskar (10122), Sourav Ganguly (6888), Dilip Vengsarkar (6868), Mohammad Azharuddin (6215) and Gundappa Viswanath(6080).

# VVS Laxman's 35th Test fifty is his third against Sri Lanka. Laxman's unbeaten innings of 61 is his 20th fifty away from home.
