  • This Test was the 1695th in cricket history.

  • Yuvraj Singh (112) scored his maiden Test century bettering his previous best of 59 also against Pakistan in the first Test at Multan.

  • Yuvraj became the third Indian batsman to score a hundred at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, joining Sanjay Manjrekar (218 in 1989-90) and Mohinder Amarnath (120 & 109 not out in 1982-83 and 101 not out in 1984-85).

  • Irfan Pathan (49) recorded his best Test score, bettering his 13 not out against Australia at Sydney in 2003-04.

  • The eighth wicket stand of 117 between Yuvraj and Irfan Pathan is India's second best against Pakistan after the 122 run-partnership between Syed Kirmani and Madan Lal at Faisalabad in 1982-83.

  • This stand was the highest for eighth wicket on this ground putting into shade the 111-run stand between Majid Khan and Imran Khan for Pakistan against Australia in 1979-80.

  • Umar Gul (5-31) registered his career-best bowling figures in an innings, obliterating his 4 for 58 against Bangladesh at Multan in 2003. Incidentally it was second best performance for him in first class cricket after six for 97 for PIA in 2002-03.

  • When Gul trapped Sachin Tendulkar LBW in first innings, it was Tendulkar's first dismissal in four Test innings in the year 2004. In his three previous innings this year, Tendulkar has scored 241* & 60* at Sydney against Australia and 194* against Pakistan at Multan. Tendulkar by aggregating 497 runs between the two dismissals now holds the world record of scoring maximum runs between two dismissals in Test cricket. The previous record was held by West Indian Garry Sobers, who had aggregated 490 runs before getting out in the series against Pakistan in 1957-58.

  • Imran Farhat (101) scored his second Test century in his tenth Test after his 128 against South Africa at Faisalabad in 2003-04.

  • Inzamam-ul-Haq (118) recorded his 19th century in his 93rd Test - his first against India. His previous highest against India was 77 in the first Test at Multan. Haq has now scored atleast a century against all other Test playing countries except against South Africa.

  • The 151-run partnership for the fourth wicket was 20th century partnership involving Yousuf Youhana. He became seventh Pakistani batsman to do so.

  • Umar Gul became 16th player to get out 'hit-wicket' against India. He also became only the second Pakistani batsman to be dismissed in this fashion against India after Wazir Mohammad who made 34 before strolling on to his stumps at Peshawar in 1954-55.

  • The wicket of Asim Kamal in Pakistan's first innings was 850th for Anil Kumble in first class cricket. The Lahore Test was 183rd first class game for the leg-spinner. Kumble thus became only the sixth Indian to achieve this distinction after Bishan Singh Bedi (1560), S Venkataraghavan (1390), Bhagwat Chandrasekhar (1063), Erapally Prasanna (957) and Dilip Doshi (898). Kumble started his first-class career for Karnataka against Hyderabad in Secunderabad in November 1989. Khalid Qayyum was his first victim.

  • Kumble (2-146) conceded 100 or more runs in an innings for the 31st time in his career. He has now conceded 100 runs in an innings in six consecutive Tests. The sequence started with Mohali Test against New Zealand in October 2003 where Kumble went for 181 runs for his three wickets. In the series downunder Kumble played in last three Tests and conceded 154 runs for 5 wickets at Adelaide, 176 runs for 6 wickets at Melbourne and 141 runs for 8 wickets (first innings) and 138 runs for 4 wickets (second innings) at Sydney respectively. In the current series against Pakistan, Kumble gave away 100 runs for 2 wickets at Multan and…..now 146 for 2 wickets in the second Test at Lahore.

  • It was also the 23rd instance when Kumble conceded 100 or more runs in an innings on foreign soil - most such occasions for any bowler.

  • Indian bowlers and fielders conceded 42 extras in Pakistan's first innings. Only once India have conceded more extras in an innings against Pakistan. In 1978-79 Karachi Test India conceded 45 extras.

  • Rahul Dravid was dismissed on naught without playing any ball in second innings. This was only the third duck of his Test career. He last failed to open his account against Australia at Sydney in 1999-00. Since then Dravid has scored 3858 runs with 10 centuries and 16 fifties at an average of 64.30 before this duck.

  • The second innings run-out was seventh such dismissal for Dravid in Test cricket. With this he equalled the existing Indian record of most run-outs in a Test career joining Syed Kirmani, Mohammad Azharuddin and Anil Kumble.

  • Dravid has now aggregated only 201 runs in nine innings against Pakistan at an average of 22.33 with a highest of 53, which came in his first innings against Pakistan. In his last eight innings he has failed to score more than 33 against Pakistan.

  • Dravid has now scored only 57 runs (at an average of 11.40) in three Tests (five innings) in which he has captained India.

  • Virender Sehwag (90) became a victim of nervous ninety for the first time in his Test career. He also became the eighth Indian to score a ninety against Pakistan (on 11th occasion). Sunil Gavaskar had suffered this fate on as many as three occasions.

  • Parthiv Patel (62 not out) equalled his highest Test score made against Australia at Sydney earlier this year. His innings is also the second highest for an Indian wicketkeeper against Pakistan after Syed Kirmani's 66 at Faisalabad in 1982-83.

  • Anil Kumble got out 'stumped' for only second time in his Test career spanning 83 Tests and 105 innings. His only other such dismissal had come against Kiwis at Kanpur in 1999-00 when Daniel Vettori got him out in this fashion.

  • Sachin Tendulkar has now appeared in 33 'lost' matches for India. He is now heading towards achieving the dubious distinction of having appeared in most 'lost' matches for India. The record is currently on the name of Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar. Both these players appeared in 34 matches that India went on to lose. Just to put the records straight, it is also Tendulkar who has appeared in most 'won' matches for India.

  • Inzamam-ul-Haq has now appeared in 40 'won' matches for Pakistan. He is now just one Test away from Wasim Akram's Pakistani record of 41 appearances in 'won' matches. Haq moved ahead of Javed Miandad, Salim Malik and Waqar Younis who each had appeared in 39 'won' matches for Pakistan.

  • L Balaji became fourth Indian batsman to bag a pair in a Test against Pakistan after Roger Binny, Dilip Doshi and Maninder Singh.

  • The defeat was first for Rahul Dravid as India's captain in his third Test.

  • Umar Gul won his maiden man of the match award in fifth Test.
