# Ravichandran Ashwin, with the wicket of Kane Williamson, became the ninth Indian bowler to complete 200 wickets or more in Tests.

# Ashwin enjoys splendid strike rate of 51.4 - the best among the spinners with 200 wickets or more in Tests. Stuart MacGill (Australia) has next best strike rate (54.0).

# Ashwin's distinction of taking 200 wickets in 37 Tests is the second fastest by a bowler in Tests next only to Australia's Clarrie Grimmett (37).

# Among Indian bowlers with 100 wickets or more in Tests on Indian soil, Ashwin's bowling average of 21.03 is the best.

# Ravindra Jadeja (50 not out off 58 balls) has posted his second fifty in Tests. He had posted 68 vs England at Lord's in July 2014.

# Having captured 5/73 in the first innings, Jadeja has become the second Indian all-rounder to post a fifty and take five wickets in an innings vs New Zealand in the same Test.

# With two superb unbeaten innings -- 42 & 50 – apart from recording a five-wicket haul in the first innings, Jadeja has become the first Indian all-rounder to aggregate 90 or more and take five wickets in an innings in the same Test.

# India (377 for five wickets declared) have posted their second highest total in the second innings at Kanpur behind the 400 for seven declared vs South Africa in December 1996.

# The top three batsmen have managed six scores between 50 and 80 -- the joint-most in any Test. The 1962-63 Brisbane Test between Australia and England and the 1997-98 Chennai Test between Australia and India had witnessed six scores between 50 and 80.

# Rohit Sharma (68 not out) has recorded his highest score in team's second innings, eclipsing the 50 vs Sri Lanka at Colombo (SSC) last year. These two scores are his only half-centuries in team's second innings.

# Rohit's fifth half century in Tests is his second vs New Zealand. After recording 177 at Kolkata and an unbeaten 111 at Mumbai in November 2013 in his first two Test innings, his 68 is his first fifty in Tests on Indian soil.

# Cheteshwar Pujara (78) has posted his ninth fifty in Tests; his sixth in Tests in India. He enjoys a superb record in Tests on Indian soil -- his tally being 1621 in 18 Tests (29 innings) at an average of 64.84, including five hundreds.

# Pujara and Vijay were associated in a stand of 133 -- India's second highest partnership for the second wicket vs New Zealand in India behind the 237 between Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag at Ahmedabad in November 2010.

# This is India's highest stand for the second wicket vs New Zealand at Green Park, Kanpur, outstripping the 114 between Mohinder Amarnath and Sunil Gavaskar in November 1976.

# Lokesh Rahul (38) has taken his run-aggregate to 306 (ave. 61.20) in four Tests this year -- the highest by an Indian batsman in Tests in 2016.

# Rohit and Jadeja were involved in an unbroken stand of 100 for the sixth wicket -- India's first century stand for this wicket vs New Zealand in Tests in Kanpur.
