Pakistani pacer Sohail Tanvir will consult a specialist in Australia for the treatment of his injured knee, next week.

The knee problem has kept him out of international and domestic cricket since November last year.

Tanvir also had to miss out on a lucrative contract with Australian state side Victoria to play in the Big Bash T20 tournament because of the same injury in December.

"Dr Young is the same man who has treated Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul and Saeed Anwar in the past successfully, he has called me to Melbourne for the treatment," Tanvir said.

The left-arm paceman, who rose to prominence two years back with his exceptional performances in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League, said he is ready to go under the knife for the treatment.

"It has forced me to also miss domestic cricket matches, which is a huge setback for me. If I have a knee surgery then I am targeting a return when Pakistan tours England for the series against Australia and England from May," he said.

"I have missed playing for Pakistan as I know I still have a lot to deliver for my national team."

Tanvir last played for Pakistan in a T20 international against New Zealand in Dubai in November 2009.
