Shikhar Dhawan is unstoppable since making a comeback to international cricket early this year.
He started with a sparkling innings of 187 on his Test debut against Australia, and since then is also India’s top performer in One-Day Internationals.
The left-hander’s exploits with the bat helped India clinch the ICC Champions Trophy, while also winning the tri-nation series in the West Indies, also involving Sri Lanka. He continued his scoring spree in the Zimbabwe, where India blanked out the hosts 5-0.
Dhawan rightly sits on top of the pile in the list of top Indian batsmen in ODIs in 2013. He has scored 707 runs in 14 matches, at an average of 54.38, coupled with an amazing strike rate of 93.51, including three centuries and two fifties.
Virat Kohli, with 689 runs at an average of 43; Rohit Sharma, with 580 runs at 41.42, and Suresh Raina, 563 runs in 22 matches, are India’s other top performers.
Ravindra Jadeja (382 runs) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (337) proved their utility with the bat lower down the order; both have a batting average of above 40.
